"Have you ever dreamed of a place where everywhere you went you felt more and more alive with the love of Christ? Have you ever imagined what it would look like to fully serve our Lord and bask in the glory of His works and creation each and every second? I can’t even begin to properly describe my five-week experience in El Salvador, because it even surpassed my wildest dreams and expectations.
I worked primarily in CIPI during this time. CIPI is the first point of placement by judges, police, and social workers for children entering into ISNA, and these children have been either orphaned, abused, or incarcerated. I couldn’t have asked for a more incredible trip, as I learned, grew and shared the love of God with some of the most broken-hearted youth and children in the world.
Orphan Helpers is an amazing ministry, and the work they do in El Salvador astounded me each day. Every worker and volunteer truly knows what it means to humble themselves before our Lord and serve those in need. They share with others the one thing that leaves souls and hearts with joy and hope for the future, and that’s the love that Christ offers us. I was able to see God change hearts and spirits, and I feel so blessed that God would choose me to be a part of something so outstanding. I saw pregnant teenagers broken before the Lord, I saw spiritual growth in girls that had lost all hope in their lives, I saw former murderers changed by God, and I praise the One who did it all. And He did it all to bring Himself glory and honor, by using us in “the most excellent way”, as Paul said, and revealing His love and grace.
El Salvador will never stop growing and bringing more to their knees, because the Lord has made His presence known there in a big way. He will never stop reaching out to and protecting His children there. He will never stop caring and He will never stop loving, because God desires only the best for His children. Orphan Helpers may be small, but their hearts are big and always obedient to the work of God. With the help of this ministry, my eyes were opened to a world in need of the love of Christ, and because the work of the Lord is never finished, I hope that one day He’ll take me back to the place that not only changed the lives of some of the lost and hopeless, but my life as well."
